Heather consider’s her style of therapy to be psychodynamic, relational and trauma focused. Heather has a deep passion for helping clients identify the root cause of their emotional issues, behaviors and attachment tendencies as they relate to your personal history. Heather believes that we have to go back to go forward, by looking at our lived experience we can discern with greater clarity why certain behaviors, beliefs and emotional issues exist in our present reality. Heather strongly believes you were not born broken, that rather it is the series of life experiences that you have endured that have deeply influenced your personality and way of being in the world.
Above all else, Heather knows how important it is for you to feel seen, heard and understood, you will feel her humanness in her style in the way she employs humour, personal lived experience and honesty as you explore various aspects of yourself. Heather often employs the use of “parts work”, attachment research and theory and polyvagal theory to help you better understand your nervous system and unique expression of trauma responses held within the body. Recently Heather has been in the process of completing her EMDR training and is extremely excited to be offering this trauma reprocessing modality to her current and incoming clients.
